Since 2014, the latest version of the legendary M3 Coupé has been called M4. Thanks to the performance of HAMANN Motorsport the fast street racer becomes a real racing car: with improved aerodynamics, more power and imposing wheel/tyre combination. Thus, the new BMW M4 from HAMANN is fit for motorsports and an individually refined gem.
The BMW M4 Coupé makes a completely different impression when HAMANN adds its aerodynamics kit: an extravagantly shaped bonnet made of visible carbon fibre and the potent rear wing in GT3 style. The perfect match: the new front with carbon-fibre spoiler lip that, at the same time, provides for additional down force. The elegant aerodynamics part is a strong contrast to the standard model’s chunky air intakes and reaches as far as the wings’ edges. Impressing side skirts and a rear diffuser with four massive carbon winglets round the strong appearance off. The four-pipe exhaust system is completed with carbon-fibre tail pieces with a diameter of 90 mm and HAMANN logo.
Not only outside but also underneath the bonnet HAMANN provides power advancement. The biturbo six-cylinder produces 317 kW (431 hp) as standard. Not bad at all, but not enough. In response to the popular demand from the racing community the tuner developed a control unit that boosts the output to 380 kW or 517 hp. At 1850 rpm already the torque is 700 Nm. In terms of acceleration the standard M4 clearly draws the short straw.
However, HAMANN would not be HAMANN Motorsport if this extra performance was not supported by an adequate modification to the suspension. The progressive springs bring the M4’s centre of gravity down by up to 30 mm. The combination with stronger sport anti-roll bars optimises the steering behaviour and minimises the body roll. The adjustment to the adaptive M suspension guarantees that HAMANN’s BMW M4 is not thrown off the track, even near the limit – given that the right wheel/tyre combination is used.
To complete the tuning of the BMW M4 HAMANN installs a unique set of tuning wheels: the “Anniversary Evo” in 21 inches with multi-spoke design and glossy black finish. These were tested with the high-performance tyres Ultrac Vorti R. That means: on the front axle, HAMANN uses 9 J x 21 ET 32 wheels combined with tyres in size 245/30 ZR21. In the back, the 11 J x 21 ET 50 power packs are equipped with 305/25 ZR21 tyres. In the experience of the HAMANN developers this combination convinces by best handling and excellent acceleration and deceleration values. Particularly in combination with the M carbon ceramic brakes.
Eventually, the technical package goes perfectly with some optical upgrades in the interior. Sport pedals made of black anodised aluminium, exclusive velours floor mats and the unique car door LED welcome projector lights with the HAMANN logo. All tailored components for the M4 are available now individually or as complete set.
